yes! this is my biggest headache too! meanwhile I found a workaround though - not sure if it'll help you: "Close" the conversation - then you will realise that it becomes a searchable "Chat", else it will remain as a "Contact" - which does not show at all becos it hasnt been active. hope this is useful!
